Finishing a bicycle frame is straightforward work. Finishing a drivetrain is not. A cassette, a chainring and a chain have to keep articulating afterwards, under load, without the precious metal breaking up on the working faces — and that single requirement is what separates the Velocity from a bicycle that has simply been painted gold. It is also why the saddle, the tyres, the levers, the derailleurs and the brake rotors are deliberately left as they are: those are the parts that grip, flex and wear.

Gold Racing Bike — A Machine, Not a Model
The easiest way to make a gold bicycle is to build something that cannot be ridden. GoldPrivé does the opposite, and then expects the owner never to ride it.
Stripped, Finished, Rebuilt
The bike arrives as a complete road bicycle and leaves as one. In between it is taken down to individual components, each finished separately — frame, forks, stem, drop bars, seatpost, rims, spokes, hubs, cranks, chainrings, chain and cassette — then reassembled, trued and set up.
Nothing is cast, moulded or faked for the photograph. What you see is the machine itself, wearing precious metal.
What Stays Black, and Why
The saddle, the tyres, the brake and shift levers, the derailleur bodies, the disc rotors and the cable housing keep their original finish. That is not an omission — a rotor has to shed heat and grip a pad, and a tyre has to flex.
The contrast also does something visual: against black rubber and black leather, gold reads as metal rather than as colour.
Yes, It Works. No, It Won't Be Ridden
Gears shift, disc brakes bite and the wheels run true, because a bicycle that cannot do those things is a sculpture with handlebars. In practice every Velocity ends up in a hall, a lobby, a showroom or a private collection.

Beyond the metal, fine leathers and exotic materials can be specified for the saddle and bars, precious stones can be set into the frame, and a name, crest or date can be engraved — all agreed before the build begins.
Living With It
Keep it dry, indoors and out of direct sunlight. A dry microfibre cloth is the whole care routine; polish and solvent are the two things that will damage the finish. Should a Velocity ever be ridden, its drivetrain is serviced exactly like any other.

Is the chain really finished too?
It is. The chain, cassette, chainrings and cranks are carried across along with the frame and wheels. Keeping precious metal on surfaces that articulate under load is the slowest part of the build and the step most gold bicycles leave out.
Which parts are left unfinished?
