Why Our Dubai Showroom Uses the Stadler Form Lukas Pro Dehumidifier

Why Our Dubai Showroom Uses the Stadler Form Lukas Pro Dehumidifier

Our showroom uses a Stadler Form Lukas Pro, a combined dehumidifier and air purifier, for the comfort of our team and the clients who visit us. It manages excess humidity and filters airborne particles in the room. It is not a ventilation system, and we make no medical claims for it.

What we use it for

A consultation can run for a long time, with devices in hand and detail to discuss, so the room matters. We use the Lukas Pro for dehumidification and air purification in our showroom, with the comfort of our team and our visiting clients in mind.

Dubai’s climate is humid for much of the year, especially in summer and near the coast, although air-conditioned interiors vary. We are not suggesting that every indoor space has too much moisture. A dehumidifier works when humidity rises above the level you set. For reference, the US EPA advises keeping indoor relative humidity below 60 percent, ideally between 30 and 50 percent.

Dehumidifying and purifying are different jobs

The Lukas Pro is a combined appliance because it performs both, and each function has its own rating.

Dehumidification Air purification
What it does Removes excess water vapour from the air Filters airborne particles
How the Lukas Pro does it A compressor with a digital hygrostat. The target can be set from 30 to 80 percent relative humidity, or run continuously A HEPA H11 filter, with a particle sensor that shows white, yellow or red
Rating Up to 50 litres per day (a rated maximum) CADR up to 327 m³/h
Room size Rooms up to 175 m² (435 m³) Air exchanged once per hour in rooms up to 131 m², or about 44 m² at three air changes per hour

The two coverage figures are not interchangeable. The purifier’s figure depends on how many times an hour you want the room’s air to pass through the filter, so 175 m² should not be read as a purification area.

Reading the 50 litres per day figure

Fifty litres a day is the manufacturer’s rated maximum under test conditions. Neither the product page nor the manual states those test conditions in full. The manual does say that the specified dehumidifying performance is only achievable in the higher temperature range, from 22 °C, and with higher room humidity, from 70 percent, and that the unit works best between 13 °C and 35 °C. In a cooled interior, treat 50 litres as a ceiling, not a typical day.

We do not publish humidity readings or performance claims for our showroom. The figures in this article are the manufacturer’s.

Practical details from the manufacturer

  • Drainage: a 5.2-litre tank that stops the unit automatically when full, or continuous drainage through the included 100 cm hose, with the hose end lower than the outlet.
  • Controls: dehumidification can be switched on or off, with a laundry drying mode, a night mode that dims the lights, a swing function, a 1 to 9 hour timer, and a touch panel or Wi-Fi app.
  • Filter: the HEPA H11 filter cannot be cleaned, and the manual says to replace it after about 12 months.
  • Sound: 38 to 55 dB(A).
  • Placement: keep clear space around the unit, do not cover it, and do not run it in an enclosed space such as a cupboard.

Why a Swiss-designed brand

Stadler Form is based in Zug, Switzerland, and its UAE website describes its range as Swiss design since 1998. We say Swiss-designed rather than Swiss-made, because neither the product page nor the manual states where the Lukas Pro is manufactured.

Our relationship with Stadler Form

Stadler Form’s UAE range is distributed by PRO TECHnology, whose showroom hosts ours. This is our own account of why we use the appliance, not an independent test or review.

FAQs

Is a dehumidifier the same as an air purifier?

No. A dehumidifier removes excess moisture from the air. An air purifier filters airborne particles. The Lukas Pro combines both, and each has its own coverage rating.

Does the Lukas Pro replace fresh-air ventilation?

No. It treats the air already in the room, by removing moisture and filtering particles. It does not bring in outdoor air, so it is not a substitute for ventilation.

Does it make the air healthier?

It does two specific things: it lowers humidity towards the level you set, and it filters airborne particles such as dust and pollen through a HEPA H11 filter, with a sensor showing air quality in white, yellow or red. Stadler Form cites an independent laboratory test of its filter against Staphylococcus albus bacteria. We make no health or medical claims for the appliance.

Where can I see or buy one?

It is in use in our showroom. Stadler Form’s UAE product page lists the specifications, price and availability, and you can browse the wider range there.
