Many of our iPhone Air designs trade wireless charging for a metal back. The Timeless Sky Blue iPhone Air makes no such trade. Its back is still the Sky Blue glass Apple fitted to a new, unlocked iPhone Air; what our Dubai atelier contributes is plating on the titanium frame and on the ring around the camera lens. It sits in the Timeless collection, the GoldPrivé line built on Apple’s own colours.

Cool, pale glass meets warm or silvery metal, a quiet contrast that stays lively in daylight. The camera plateau and Apple logo are untouched, the plating measures 5–7 microns, and no route into a GoldPrivé iPhone Air is more accessible.

Choosing a Finish for Sky Blue

Against blue, Platinum gives an icy, tonal look, 24K Gold creates the liveliest warm-and-cool contrast, and Rose Gold sits gently between the two, all at a single price. Whatever the metal, it is limited to the frame and lens ring. No new back panel is fitted, and Apple’s screen, A19 Pro chip, cameras and battery remain unmodified, so Apple Pay, iOS updates and the 48MP Fusion camera carry on normally.

That original glass is the practical heart of Sky Blue. Place it on a MagSafe charger or a Qi2 pad and it charges at up to 20W, just as an unaltered iPhone Air would, while the USB‑C port stays ready for a cable.

Why does this edition keep wireless charging when fully plated designs lose it?

Because its back is still Apple’s glass. Wireless power cannot pass through a plated metal back, but it reaches the battery through glass as usual, so MagSafe and Qi2 charge Sky Blue at up to 20W.

Should I choose Sky Blue or Prestige Gold?

That depends on what you value. Prestige Gold plates the whole back but must charge by cable, whereas Sky Blue keeps Apple’s glass and cordless charging. Within the Timeless category, Light Gold is warmer, Cloud White brighter and Space Black the boldest.

What exactly does GoldPrivé plate?
