Onyx Gold Samsung Galaxy Watch9: A Precious Case, Framed in Black

The Onyx Gold Samsung Galaxy Watch9 is for clients who like their precious metal understated rather than announced. We take a factory-new Samsung Galaxy Watch9 and, in our Dubai atelier, plate its aluminium case and its two buttons in 24K Gold, Platinum or Rose Gold, 5–7 microns thick. Samsung’s own black Sport Band stays on the watch, and only its pin buckle takes the metal. Onyx belongs to our four-piece Watch9 collection in gold and platinum, and it is the edition most at ease with both a dark suit and weekend clothes.

Black is the colour that lets metal glow. Around the round display, the cushion-shaped case catches every bit of light in gold or platinum, while the smooth, flexible band below absorbs it, so the eye goes straight to the case. Underneath, a single plated pin buckle repeats the case colour, a small detail you notice each time you fasten it.

Only the visible metal changes. The aluminium case and both buttons receive the plating, and so does the pin buckle. The black Sport Band itself is Samsung’s original, as are the sapphire crystal, the display of up to 3,000 nits, the Snapdragon Wear Elite processor, the sensors and the battery. The sensor back underneath is never plated and keeps its dark factory finish.

That bare back is what Samsung’s wireless charger docks against, so Onyx charges exactly as a standard Watch9 does, and health tracking, workouts and Wear OS updates are unaffected. The band closes with its pin buckle, and because Samsung’s bands adjust right there at the buckle, nothing needs resizing: you simply choose the hole that suits your wrist.

Where does the metal go on Onyx?

On the aluminium case, its two buttons and the Sport Band’s pin buckle, at 5 to 7 microns. The black band stays Samsung’s own, and so do the crystal, the display and the sensor back.

Is Onyx built on an authentic Galaxy Watch9?

Always. Our Dubai atelier starts only from factory-new Galaxy Watch9 watches and customises their outside; the processor, sensors, memory and Wear OS with Gemini are left untouched.

How do I charge Onyx?

On the wireless charger Samsung supplies in the box. We leave the sensor back unplated, so the charger docks against it just as it would on any Watch9.

Can you engrave Onyx?

We can. Send your text through our engraving request page, and your GoldPrivé consultant will agree the wording and where it goes before production starts.

Which case size should I choose?

Onyx comes in Samsung’s two Watch9 sizes, 40mm and 44mm; select one, along with your metal, on this page. The Sport Band adjusts at its buckle, so no fitting is needed before delivery.

How much does the Onyx Gold Samsung Galaxy Watch9 cost?

The 40mm model is $ 2,480 and the 44mm is $ 2,600, whichever metal you prefer.

Is Onyx water-resistant, and what about Samsung’s warranty?

Please treat it as a dry watch. Samsung’s 5ATM and IP68 ratings describe the watch before customisation and should not be relied on afterwards, so no swimming, diving or showering. Samsung may also view a customised watch as modified, which can affect its manufacturer warranty, while GoldPrivé Care looks after the customised parts.

How does Onyx compare with Regent, Lattice and Ivory?

Onyx and Ivory share Samsung’s Sport Band, in black and white respectively, each with a plated buckle. Regent replaces the band with broad polished links and Lattice with a woven mesh, both in the case metal. On the Galaxy Watch Ultra2, Slate is the closest in spirit, on a dark grey Marine Band.
