For those who like their gold spoken softly, the Slate Gold Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra2 pairs a precious-metal bezel with the most restrained strap we offer. It begins as a factory-new Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra2; in our Dubai atelier the bezel and buttons are finished in 24K Gold, Rose Gold or Platinum to a depth of 5–7 microns, and the watch is then set on Samsung’s Marine Band in a deep slate grey. Slate is the most discreet of the five pieces in our gold Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra2 collection.
On the wrist, the colour comes from only a handful of places: the ring of metal framing the 1.5-inch display, the buttons at the side, and the plated buckle and loop on the strap. Everything else stays in charcoal tones, from the dark titanium flanks of the 47mm case to the ribbed, perforated band, so the gold or platinum reads as a precise accent rather than a declaration.
Where the Metal Stops on Slate
Slate’s plating is confined to four elements: the bezel, the buttons (the Quick Button among them), and the buckle and loop that fasten the band. The titanium case sides keep the finish Samsung gave them, and so does the sensor back beneath. The display, processor, sensors and battery are never opened.
With no metal added to that back, Samsung’s wireless charger still docks against it and refills the battery as it always would, and heart tracking, workouts, the siren and Wear OS updates carry on as on any Ultra2. The Marine Band itself is Samsung’s original in grey, and because it adjusts at the buckle there are no links to remove.

Samsung designed the Marine Band for water sports, and the Ultra2 it ships carries 10ATM, IP69K and EN13319 diving certification. Once customised, though, Slate must stay dry: those ratings should no longer be relied on, so please don’t swim, dive or shower in it.

Which parts of Slate carry the plating?
The bezel and every button, the Quick Button included, are plated 5 to 7 microns deep, as are the buckle and loop on the Marine Band. The titanium case sides, the band itself and the sensor back are left as Samsung made them.
Is Slate built on a genuine Samsung watch?
It is. Each commission starts with a brand-new Galaxy Watch Ultra2, finished by hand in Dubai; its processor, sensors, siren and Wear OS software are left unmodified.
Will it charge on the Samsung charger?
Yes. Because we add nothing to the sensor back, Samsung’s wireless charger attaches to it and charges Slate normally.

Can Slate go in the water, and how is it covered?
No. Samsung made the Marine Band for water sports, but this customised watch has to stay dry: the 10ATM, IP69K and EN13319 ratings belong to the factory Ultra2 and can no longer be relied on, so avoid swimming, diving and the shower.
