Your thumb discovers the Obelisk Gold Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 before your eye does. Its back is covered edge to edge in minute raised pyramids, a hobnail pattern borrowed from old metalwork, each point a tiny monument that gives the design its name. That play of grain against polish is entirely on the replacement panel and the camera island, the only parts we touch. Samsung’s Armor FlexHinge and its frame keep their factory finish, and we never open the 7.6-inch main screen, the 5.5-inch cover screen, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy platform, the 50MP wide and ultra wide pair or the 4,800mAh cell.

Day-to-day use is pure Samsung: Galaxy AI, 5G, eSIM and updates until 2033. Only signals that must cross the rear are affected. Which parts of the phone do you work on?

Just the back and the camera island. A new panel with the pyramid texture and the chevron plate replaces Samsung’s rear and is plated at 5 to 7 microns; frame, hinge, screens and internals are not touched.

Does the texture feel rough in the hand?

No. The pyramids are small and evenly spaced, so the surface feels finely ribbed rather than sharp, and it gives a surer grip than a mirror back.

Will wireless charging or Samsung Wallet work?
