A chain is the oldest language of jewellery, and the Sovereign Link Gold Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 speaks it in one confident line. Down the right-hand side of a mirror-polished back runs a heavy curb chain, raised clear of the surface and capped top and bottom by small chevron-shaped terminals. Underneath is a factory-new, unlocked Galaxy Z Fold8; in Dubai we replace its rear with a new panel and plate panel and chain together, 5–7 microns deep, in 24K Gold, Rose Gold or Platinum.

The rest of the back is deliberately calm. The pill-shaped island holding the two lenses is polished in the same metal at the upper left, the finish is named in fine lettering near the base above a GoldPrivé mark, and nothing else interrupts the shine. On this wider, shorter Fold8 the chain spans almost the full height of the panel, so it reads as a bracelet laid along the spine. Seen close, the piece works by contrast: flat mirror, then rounded links that catch light on every curve, then the polished outline of the camera island. That is the full extent of our craft. The hinge and the Armor Aluminum frame stay in Samsung’s factory finish, and the 7.6-inch main display, the 5.5-inch cover display, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy processor, the dual 50MP cameras and the 4,800mAh battery are never opened.

Software, connectivity and Galaxy AI behave just as on any other Fold8. The trade-off lives in the rear: precious metal blocks both the wireless charging field and the NFC link behind Samsung Wallet. Which parts are new and which are original?

New: the rear panel, the chain fixed to it and the finish on the camera island, all plated at 5 to 7 microns. Original: the frame, the hinge, both displays and everything inside, none of which we open or plate.

Will the chain catch on pockets or fabric?

It stands proud of the panel, so you will feel it under your fingers, and the terminals at each end keep it tidy. Slipping the phone into a soft pouch protects both the links and the mirror around them.

Does it support wireless charging and Samsung Wallet?

No. A precious-metal back stops the charging field and the NFC signal alike, so this phone is charged with its USB‑C cable and payments go through a card or another device.
