Cobalt Gold Apple Watch Series 12: Navy Cloth, Bright Metal
The Cobalt Gold Apple Watch Series 12 is for the client who would choose a navy suit over a black one. We begin with a factory-new aluminium Apple Watch Series 12, plate its case by hand in 24K Gold, Rose Gold or Platinum to a depth of 5–7 microns, and fit it to Apple’s own Modern Buckle in Deep Blue. Cobalt brings the softness of cloth to our gold Apple Watch Series 12 collection.
Apple makes this band from FineWoven, a durable micro-twill with a soft, suede-like feel, in a blue deep enough to pass for good tailoring. Against it, the plated buckle becomes the second point of light after the case, so the watch reads as gold at a glance yet never raises its voice. It suits people who wear blue to work, or who find a full metal bracelet too much for every day.
Plated Case, Apple Band, One Bright Buckle
Three parts of the watch are plated: the aluminium case, the Digital Crown and the side button, each finished in the metal you select. The FineWoven band itself stays exactly as Apple made it; only the buckle passes through the atelier, plated to match the case. Apple’s display, S11 chip, sensors and battery are never opened, and the sensor back retains its original Apple finish. That untouched back is why the magnetic fast charger locks on as usual, and why heart readings, blood oxygen, sleep score, workouts and every watchOS update behave just as on any other Series 12.
What appears to be one solid buckle is in fact two pieces held together by magnets: they separate with a gentle pull and draw back into place when brought close. Length is adjusted at the buckle on your wrist, so there is no tongue to thread each morning. Apple designs the Modern Buckle for the 42mm case, which is why Cobalt is made in that size.
What Apple Publishes for the Watch Inside Cobalt
Under its plating, Cobalt is an unaltered Apple Watch Series 12, so the table repeats Apple’s figures for the aluminium model. Weight is left out, as plating adds a small amount. For everything else, consult Apple’s technical specifications for Series 12.

What exactly do you plate on Cobalt?
The case, Digital Crown and side button, in 5 to 7 microns of 24K Gold, Rose Gold or Platinum, plus the Modern Buckle’s buckle in that same metal. The Deep Blue FineWoven band is Apple’s and is not plated.
Is it a real Apple Watch Series 12 underneath?
Yes. We start from a factory-new aluminium Series 12 and never open it. The S11 chip, the Always‑On Retina display and the electrical and optical heart sensors are Apple’s own, running watchOS as usual.
Does the watch still charge on Apple’s magnetic charger?
It does. The sensor back keeps Apple’s finish, so the supplied fast-charging cable attaches magnetically and, by Apple’s figures, brings the battery to 80% in about 30 minutes.
Could Cobalt be engraved as a gift?
